Gandan Khiid Buddhist Monastery 

Gandan Khiid Buddhist Monastery is second largest religious monastery in Mongolia. The monastery was constructed by order of the 5th Bogd Khan in 1838 and it is center of astronomy, philosophy and medicine of Mongolian Buddhism. The 13th Dalai Lama stayed in the residence in 1904. Largest standing 26.5-meter-high statue of Avalokitesvara Buddha includes in the monastery complex. 

National Museum of Mongolian History 

National Museum of Mongolian History was established in 1924. Exhibitions cover prehistory, pre-Mongol Empire history, Mongol Empire, Mongolia during Qing rule, ethnography and traditional life, and twentieth-century history. The ethnographic collection has significant displays of the traditional dress of various Mongolian ethnic groups and of snuff bottles. 

Sukhbaatar Square

 Sukhbaatar Square main square of Ulaanbaatar, famed by Sukhbaatar after he made people’s revolutionary in Mongolia and that related with 20th century of Mongolian history. In 2006, square has changed name for Genghis square. Bogd Khan Palace Museum Bogd Khan Palace Museum built between 1893 and 1903, housed residence of last Buddhist leader Bogd Khan in early 20th century. The complex includes six temples. Each room contains Buddhist artworks, including sculpture, thangka, appliqué etc. Zaisan Hill Memorial Statue 

Zaisan Hill Memorial Statue is best place to see panoramic view of capital. It also built by people of Mongolia to successful victory of Soviet troops for WW2.

Day 1

Gandan Monastery

 In the morning at 9am, your tour guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel lobby and our city tour starts with visiting “Gandan” Monastery, which is Mongolia’s largest functioning Buddhist monastery including the Mongolian Buddhist University. The highlight of visiting to Gandan is 26-meter-high majestic gilded indoor statue of Megjid Janraisig.

Museum of Mongolian National History 

the museum presents Mongolian history and culture from prehistoric times to the present day. After lunch at Modern Nomads restaurant, visit Sukhbaatar square which is lies at the heart of the city surrounded by important buildings such as government palace, banks and theaters and post office. There is an equestrian statue of Sukhbaatar and a massive Bronze statue of Genghis khan with his four warriors in front of Parliament House. 

Bogd Khan Palace Musuem-Zaisan Memorial Next,

 visit Bogd Khan Palace museum – the complex was a residence of 8th Bogd Javzandamba in 19th century, the head of Mongolian religion. The palace consists of seven Summer Prayer temples and the winter palace. Afterwards, we will visit Zaisan Memorial Hill is located in the south side of Ulaanbaatar City, right beside the Bogd Khan Mountain having a best view of the city and surrounding hills.

 Folk performance, “Wonders of Mongolia”

 In the evening, we will visit “Wonders of Mongolia” folklore show by famous Tumen-Ekh ensemble – is one of the most successful folk art groups to share traditional Mongolian music with the world, having traveled to over 40 countries. At 7.10pm, transfer to your hotel. End of trip.
