Taste of Mongolia

Day 1

Extinct Volcanic Mountain in Bulgan Province                                                                                                                                                                                                               In the morning, we will start our journey towards northern Mongolia by car. We will stop on the way to visit the extinct volcanic of Uran Togoo mountain. This region erupted about 25’000 years ago and will visit the remains of this eruption.We will camp nearby and spend our first evening together around the fire playing cards or learning about Mongolian culture.

Day 2

Travel to Lake Khuvsgul                                                                                                               

In the morning we will continue our road to Lake Huvsgul, the largest freshwater lake in Mongolia. It is also the cousin of the very famous Lake Baikal into which its water is drained after traveling through the Siberian forest.On the way, we will take a break at Murun, the capital city of the Huvsgul province. Then we will keep traveling to the lake where we will arrive in the late evening. Overnight in Ger camp on the lake side.

Day 3

Hiking to Khyasaa Pass in the Huvsgul Lake National Park                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      Today, we will have a full day of spectacular hiking around Khyasaa mountain from where you will have a full scenery of Khuvsgul Lake. This is among the best hiking destinations in Mongolia.

Day 4

Khuvsgul lake-Jargalant Hot Spring                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    We will traverse the marsh, mud, wet meadows and rivers which will be quite adventurous. The mountains are surrounded by trees and forest, you will feel like in paradise. You will pass admirable panoramic view. Stay overnight in a Ger camp enjoying this peaceful landscape.

Day 5

Jargalant-White Lake-Khorgo Volcano                                                                                                 

In the morning, we will drive through the mountains to reach White Lake. Once we get there, we will have lunch at lake shore. You will have time to enjoy a nice swim and short walking along the lake shore. After short walk, we will have a short drive to Khorgo Volcano. Stay overnight in Ger camp.

Day 6

Khorgo Volcano-chuluut canyon- Taikhar Rock-Tsenkher Hot Spring                               

In the morning, we will visit to beautiful chuluut canyon and one of the locally worshipped and legendary rock called taikhar. We will have lunch in one of the restaurant in Tsetserleg, the capital of Arkhangai province. After lunch, we will have a short visit to local museum and market. Then, we will drive for a short time to Tsenkher Hot Spring where you can enjoy soaking in the hot spa pool. Especially having some beer and looking at star at night, sitting in the pool makes you feel relaxed. Overnight in ger camp.

Day 7

Tsenkher Hot Spring-Khar Khorum, the ancient capital of Mongolian Empire.                    

Today, we will drive to not only ancient center of trade along the Silk Road but also the ancient capital of Mongolian Empire, Kara Khorum, founded in 1220 by Chinghis khan. This is the most prominent historical site in Orkhon Valley. Here we will visit to museums about the Mongol Empire that governed and controlled through Asia and Eastern Europe for over 400 years. There is one of the biggest Monastery of Mongolia called Erdenezuu. The monastery was built using materials of the ruin of ancient capital of Mongolian Empire. Overnight in Ger camp.

Day 8

Khara khorum-Elsen Tasarkhai Sand Dune-Khustai National Park                                       

After breakfast at the camp, we will leave Kara Khorum and head to Khustai National Park. We will go across sand dunes lost in the middle of a mountainous area in the central part of Mongolia. Elsen Tasarkhai sand dune extends 80 kilometres (49,71 miles). The main road separates this sand dune into two parts. After having lunch at a ger camp close to the sand dune, we will continue our travel directly to Khustai National park to see wild horses-takhi that became extinct in the wild and was last seen in the Gobi in the late 1960s. Except horses, you might see wild animals like marmots, steppe gazelle, deer, boar, manul (small wild cat), wolves and lynx. In the evening, we will come back to our camp and have farewell dinner. Overnight in Ger camp.

Day 9-10                                                                                                                                                     

Khustai National Park-Journey back to Ulaanbaatar          

Today, we will drive back to Ulaanbaatar to be on time for the flight to back home.
